Vets in Sosua: With its large expat population from all over the world, Sosua has a large pet population as foreigners love animals, specially dogs. This has created a broad movement that includes Canadians, Germans, North Americans, Belgians other important nationalities that together have created several pro-animal associations to help with animal care and control in the North Coast of the island.
Most are close to veterinarians as in the case of AAA, and Judy`s Pet lodge ( next door to Dr. Bob`s clinic ). Animal lovers will find great support when searching for help with their dogs, cats and other beloved pets in Sosua.
Dr. Bob Pet Clinic
Dr. Bob`s Vet Clinic is perhaps the most respected Vet in Sosua, who also rescues many animals from abandonment. His Clinic is almost next to the Coastal ( Now Next ) gas station on highway 5 almost facing the Sea Horse Ranch.
Dr. De La Cruz
Dr. De La Cruz is a well known vet in Sosua, with a clinic right on the main highway 5, almost next to the truck drivers union. He also has a store for pet supplies including food, toys, medication, carry cages, beds and leashes.
Judy`s Pet Lodge
Judy`s Pet Lodge is part of the AAA which in DR is the Animals Friends Association. They take good care of pets, washing and grooming them, also doing spay/neuter procedures- many times on stray dogs to control population.
Dogs and Cats of DR
Dogs and Cats of DR is a volunteer-based organization that brings care to abandoned pets and raises awareness on health and many other issues affecting pets in the Dominican Republic.
