In Some cases, a much larger medical center will be required for certain cases that need specialized care. Local doctors will make the referral if ever needed; the top choices in the island are the HOMS in Santiago and the Plaza de la Salud in Santo Domingo. Most critical patients will be flown there, it is always advised to have a good travel insurance to get really good care.

AMBULANCE SERVICES
Ambulance services in the Dominican Republic are now all going through 911. Just dial 911 from any phone and you will be directed to the emergency service line; as of this writing this service is available in Spanish, so be sure to have someone near you that can translate if you are not bilingual.
Villa rental guests have full access to medical emergency response and in-house doctor appointment, through our concierge services. We can also provide a nurse assistant for those families that rent wheelchair friendly villas or have a family member with special needs. Some of the villas we rent come equipped with phones and mobile lines.
Ask us if you need a local phone to be in constant touch with a medical center if you have a medical condition or anyone else in the travel group.
