SOSUA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
| Sosua is one of the best Dominican destinations where sun, fun and good life are all found within a small but very vibrant community. Initially a farming community of Jewish settlers ( see our page on history of Sosua ) the town now has a reputation for being an unspoiled little piece of paradise. Sosua has several nice beach resorts to choose from, also several nice beaches. In the bay facing the beach area there`s the Sosua Bay Resort and Victorian House, with some of the most dramatic views of the beach and ocean from its beautiful swimming pool, restaurants and suites; A diving facility, fishing boat and snorkeling boat are available, also stores, gift shops, a casino, a spa, health clinic and gym. On the beach way there`s a row of local artwork studios where one can buy good art at low prices, and enjoy a colorful promenade every time we go to the beach. Coming up the beach way there`s Playero Supermarket ( called the little Playero because there`s a far larger one across the main highway ) where drinks and groceries can be purchased on the way to the beach, including some useful items such as power adapter plugs, sun protection creme, sandals, and other beach related items. As we mention in the bars and restaurants page there`s several restaurants near it, including Morua Mai, Happy Bar, PJ and La Roca. The Pedro Clisante street is the main strip where most of the well known bars and restaurants are placed, including Clasico`s and Club X. El Batey has 2 main streets that cover Sosua`s center from start to end, and those are the Pedro Clisante street and the Alejo Martinez. Piergiorgio restaurant and hotel in La Puntilla is a rather unique place in the island because it consists of a cliff bordering neoclassic Italian palace not seen elsewhere.Serving fine foods and wines while you stare at the mesmerizing blue ocean from its many clifftop terraces is a great experience to enjoy with family and friends. Though prices were considered high for some budgets, last update the management decided to cut prices and now they`re more open and affordable to most visitors. Sosua is well known for its private villa rentals, attracting a lot of visitors each year that travel to the Dominican Republic in search of self catering vacation rentals in some of the private communities built around Sosua.
